All of these works are about the discovery and unearthing of remnants from another time. Using aged wood, metals, gold leaf, cloth, glass, rocks as well as new materials that have been manipulated to appear old, I attempt to re-create the excitement I felt as a kid reading about the discovery of Machu Picchu in Peru by Hiram Bingham, King Tut's Tomb in Egypt by Howard Carter, the history of the first native Americans and countless other archaeological discoveries around the world. These assemblages aim to reignite that same sense of wonder for the viewer.

To me, incorporating these bits and pieces from the past into contemporary works of art makes a genuine, lasting statement. Regardless of how these materials have been ravaged by the elements, nature or man, their strength remains.
